Every routine is scored fairly and explained clearly. Below is scoring information for each division.

Open Scoring System

Cheer America only offers Open Championship Scoring System at select events for All Star Cheer. Please note not all divisions may be offered, send us an email if you have questions. Info@cacheermail.com

  2. New for the 2026-2027 season We will be offering the 25-26 Cheer America Performance Scoring. We are also adding YCADA Youth Show Cheer Divisions and Scoring.
  3. Both affiliated and non-affiliated will compete in the same divisions. Grand Champions may be split.

YCADA SHOW CHEER DIVISIONS AND SCORING

  1. Max Routine Length- 2:30 minutes, No Minimum
  2. This category is offered for the following levels: 1, 2, 3 and 4. Performance using music, cheer or any combination.
  3. Music is required in this category. Music may be incorporated for a segment, half, or the entire performance.
  4. Poms and props are allowed.
  5. Please refer to the remainder of the cheer section for complete details on Show Cheer routine requirements and allowances.

  7. Reminder we will only be offering YOUTH SHOW CHEER DIVISIONS (LEVEL 1-4) NOTE: We will NOT be offering-Show Cheer Level 1 Limited, Show Cheer Non-Tumbling and/or YCADA Sideline Performance Cheer.

What is the Difference in Affiliated Rec and Non-Affiliated Rec?

For the 2026-2027 season all rec teams will compete together however, we will award Grand Champions in both affiliated and non-affiliated rec. 

AFFILIATED REC: Teams must have an affiliation with or be governed by an organization such as Pop Warner, City Parks and Recreation Dept., YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs or other programs that are community based and not affiliated with All Star cheer.

NON-AFFILIATED REC: Teams are part of an all-star gym or all star program.

  1. All Cheer America Events will be held on the spring floor unless otherwise noted.

SCHOOL CHEER

DIVISIONS & RULES

CROWD LEADING

Crowd Leading divisions focus on leading the crowd with effective material. Routines will include transitional stunts/pyramids, but are required to have a cheer section encouraging a crowd response similar to leading the fans on game day! Teams can use all sideline appropriate props such as signs, poms and megaphones in routines.

Routine maximum time: 2 Minutes 30 seconds

PERFORMANCE

Performance divisions showcase the athletes skills and focus on visual elements. Routines will consist of transitional stunts, pyramids and a cheer. In the Performance divisions it is not required that the cheer encourages crowd participation.

Routine maximum time: 2 Minutes 30 seconds

GAME DAY

The game day routine will focus on traditional crowd leading skills, and must include band chant, situational chant, cheer and traditional fight song dance. Routines should include (but not limited to) signs, poms, flags and megaphones.

  • ***NEW THIS YEAR:
  • - This division will utilize UIL & NFHS Scoring and Rules.
  • - The announcer will call out an offense or defense prompt after the band chant.

*SCHOOL GAME DAY DIVISIONS: NEW this year, the announcer will call out an offense or defense prompt after the band chant. Situational Call outs are listed on the 'GAMEDAY DETAILS' document above.

*Middle School Divisions: Per NFHS Safety rules middle schools are NOT permitted to perform Basket Tosses.

COLLEGE CHEER

Cheer America offers Intermediate and Advanced as well as Game day divisions.

  • Cheer America offers several different types of individual & small group routines: Best Cheerleader (individual or small group), Best Dancer (individual or small group), Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Power Jumps, Power Tumbling, Cheer Only, or Spirit Leader.
